Mazzei Wine Dinner Phuket at Benny’s: A Night of Tuscan Wines and Live Jazz
The Mazzei Wine Dinner Phuket took place at Benny’s Cocktails & Grill on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. Presented in collaboration with Wine Gallery, it was an intimate, one-night-only evening dedicated to the wines of the Mazzei family, one of Tuscany’s most historic winemaking families.
Five Mazzei wines were poured alongside a menu that Benny’s created around them, course by course, with live jazz from 7pm throughout the evening. It was an exclusive dinner, kept deliberately small so that every wine and every pairing could be presented properly.
The Wines of the Evening
The wines moved from fresh and aromatic to increasingly structured reds, ending with Siepi 2020.

Villa Marcello Prosecco Extra Dry
Treviso DOC, Veneto · 85% Glera, 15% Pinot Bianco
Fresh and elegant, with apple, pear and floral notes and a fine, persistent perlage. Served on arrival with the reception canapés.
Belguardo Vermentino 2023
Maremma Toscana DOC, Tuscany · 100% Vermentino · 90 Points, Falstaff
A fresh and mineral Vermentino from the Tuscan coast, with yellow peach, exotic fruit and a characteristic saline finish.
Castello di Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2018
Chianti Classico DOCG, Tuscany · 100% Sangiovese · 94 Points James Suckling, 93 Points Wine Advocate, 92 Points Wine Spectator
Made from selected Sangiovese parcels surrounding Fonterutoli, combining structure, freshness and minerality with the depth of one of the estate’s flagship wines.
Tenuta Belguardo 2018
Maremma Toscana Riserva DOC, Tuscany · 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc · 96 Points James Suckling, 96 Points and Gold Medal Decanter
A powerful yet refined Cabernet-based wine from Mazzei’s Maremma estate, with dark fruit, spice, structure and a long finish.
Siepi 2020
Toscana IGT, Tuscany · 50% Sangiovese, 50% Merlot · 98 Points James Suckling, 96 Points Wine Enthusiast, 95 Points Wine Advocate, 94 Points Wine Spectator
One of Mazzei’s most celebrated wines, bringing together the freshness and structure of Sangiovese with the richness of Merlot, and the final pairing of the night.
The Pairing Menu
Rather than choosing wines for an existing menu, Benny’s built each dish around the wine it was served with.
- Reception: Parmesan and shiitake mushroom croquettes and tuna tartare crostini, with Villa Marcello Prosecco Extra Dry.
- First course: Hokkaido scallop carpaccio with Oscietra caviar, with Belguardo Vermentino 2023.
- Pasta: pappardelle with slow-cooked wild boar ragù, with Castello di Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2018.
- From the charcoal grill: Ibérico Presa, with Tenuta Belguardo 2018.
- Main course: Wagyu fillet, potato pavé, glazed shallot, black truffle and red wine jus, with Siepi 2020.
- Dessert: Benny’s take on the Tuscan classic of cantucci and Vin Santo, presented in a stemmed glass with cantucci, Vin Santo custard and caramelized pineapple, finished with mint and an edible flower.
Live Jazz and an Intimate Evening at Benny’s
Live jazz played from 7pm and accompanied the dinner from the first glass of Prosecco to dessert.
Benny’s is made for evenings like this: a warm, intimate dining room in Bang Tao, with a relaxed atmosphere where a dinner can unfold slowly, course by course and conversation by conversation, while the music sets the pace.
That atmosphere is a big part of why our wine dinners have become some of the best-known evenings at Benny’s. For every collaboration we prepare a special menu built around its wines, so no two wine dinners are ever the same.
What we enjoy most is watching our guests enjoy the night. They are true wine lovers, and the room fills with conversation about every glass, every pairing and the stories behind each bottle.
Live Jazz Every Wednesday at Benny’s
Every Wednesday is Steak & Jazz Night: live jazz from 7pm, steaks grilled over charcoal and a good glass of wine. If you are looking for dinner at one of the best steakhouses in Phuket, this is the night to book your table.
Mazzei: A Tuscan Winemaking Family Since 1435
The Mazzei family’s history at Castello di Fonterutoli dates back to 1435. Over the centuries the family has become closely associated with Tuscan wine, particularly Chianti Classico, while also developing its Tenuta Belguardo estate in the coastal Maremma. The five wines of the evening showed several sides of that portfolio, from the Veneto to the hills of Chianti and the Tuscan coast.
Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to Wine Gallery for presenting the Mazzei wines with us and making this dinner possible, and to every guest who joined us on the night. Sharing wines like these, course by course, is exactly why we host wine dinners at Benny’s.
